Spring brings about new seasons of growth, both in our children and the world around us. Here are a few resources we found to help coach your child through this new season of celebrating the life, development, and fun that surrounds us!
April Foolishness
It’s a Spring morning on the farm. Grandma is happy the grandkids are visiting-they’ve picked the right day! Grandpa is fixing breakfast. Suddenly his grandson shouts, “The cows have got loose! I think Big Brown Bessie, just stepped on a goose!” But Grandpa isn’t at all upset about this news- he just pours himself a glass of milk! Why is Grandpa so cool? Because he knows the kids are trying to play an April Fools’ trick! And then Grandma steps in with a trick of her own. Teresa Bateman’s rollicking rhyme and Nadine Westcott rib-tickling pictures make for riotous April Fools’ Day fun.
Thank You, Earth: A Love Letter to Our Planet
April Pulley Sayre, award-winning photographer and acclaimed author of more than sixty-five books, introduces concepts of science, nature, and language arts through stunning photographs and a poetic text structured as a simple thank-you note. Touching on subjects from life cycles to weather, colors, shapes, and patterns, this is an ideal resource for science and language art curriculums and a terrific book for bedtime stories. Thank You, Earth is a great choice for Earth Day celebrations!
Llama Llama Easter Egg
With short and simple rhyming text, the Llama Llama board books introduce Llama Llama to babies and toddlers before they’re ready for longer full-length stories. And their small size and durable pages are perfect for little hands. In Llama Llama Easter Egg, the Easter Bunny brings lots of treats for Llama Llama: jelly beans, colorful eggs, and a fluffy surprise!
Pete the Cat: Big Easter Adventure
Pete jumps in to help the Easter Bunny in Pete the Cat: Big Easter Adventure—which comes complete with a poster, stickers, and a set of punch-out card. When Pete wakes up Easter morning, ready to check out his basket of goodies, he discovers the Easter Bunny needs a little extra help. Our favorite groovy blue cat puts on his bunny ears and finds a way to collect, paint, and hide the eggs all in time for Easter!
Pippa’s Passover Plate
Pippa the Mouse has been working hard all day– cleaning her house, setting the table, cooking the meal. Everything looks great– but her special Seder plate is missing! Filled with rhymes and repetition, this is a perfect title to share and read aloud, just in time for your own Passover festivities.
