Talk like a Pirate
Want to sound like a true scallywag? Test yer pirate lingo with the Pirate Translator. Just type in yer everyday words, and it’ll turn them into pirate speak faster than ye can say “shiver me timbers!” It’s a great way to bring giggles into the classroom, at home, or even at the office if ye dare.
Read Pirate-Themed Books
Books be treasure, mateys—and these tales are packed with adventure, imagination, and learning moments:

1. Pete the Cat and the Treasure Map: A Swashbuckling Adventure for Kids – Follow Pete and his crew as they face challenges at sea. It’s a great way to talk about problem-solving and bravery.

2. How I Became a Pirate – This funny tale teaches about sequencing and storytelling as a boy joins a pirate crew and discovers what he really values most.

3. Treasure Island: The Original 1883 Edition With Complete Illustrations (A Robert Louis Stevenson Classic Novel) – A timeless adventure filled with rich vocabulary and opportunities to spark conversations about maps, courage, and choices.
Each story inspires imagination while supporting literacy and language development—now that’s treasure!
Hunt for Treasure with Geocaching
No pirate adventure is complete without a treasure hunt! Thanks to Geocaching, you and your little crew can search for hidden caches in your own community. Using the Geocaching app, you’ll follow clues, explore familiar spots like parks, and maybe discover new places too. Some caches are as big as a lunchbox, others teeny tiny—but all are exciting to find! Signing the logbook or swapping small trinkets adds a real-world layer to the adventure, while building skills in observation, direction-following, and problem-solving.
Talk Like a Pirate Day is more than just silly fun—it’s a chance to read, explore, learn, and laugh together. So don your eyepatch, practice your best “Arrr!”, and set sail for an adventure that builds both memories and skills.
