The month of May finds us in a tricky spot between Spring and Summer. Upon further investigation, we’ve found there’s actually quite a bit to celebrate this month!
Be it National Nurses Day (May 6), National Teachers Day (May 7), National Receptionists Day (May 8) or even Mother’s Day (May 12), this is a great time to introduce your child to the world of occupations! Richard Scarry’s world is a great place to start with the book, What Do People Do All Day?
The holidays continue with what else, but FOOD of course! There’s National Hoagie Day (May 5), International No Diet Day (May 6), National Eat What You Want Day (May 11), and National Apple Pie Day (May 13). Llama Llama Yum, Yum, Yum and Daniel’s Sweet Trip to the Bakery are just two books to get your child thinking of their favorite things to eat!
You can also check out the Speechworks archive from Star Wars, May the Fourth Be With You holiday and how Comic Books Support Reading. With Summer preparations in full swing, June and July wouldn’t be the same without Farmer’s Market Fun!
