Your free public library card offers a number of online resources that you can access whether the library is closed for global pandemics, weather, or for regular after-hour closures. These resources are specific to the twenty-four libraries of the Bridges Library System within Waukesha and Jefferson counties of Wisconsin. Your local library may have different or additional online resources available.
If you don’t have a library card yet, then visit Get Your Library Card to sign up for a digital card good for 60 days.
One of my favorite things about borrowing digital resources from the library is that they are returned automatically, so you don’t have to worry overdue fines.
E-books & audiobooks
Libby is a free app that allow patrons to download e-books and audiobooks to their computer, iPad, Kindle, or smart phone. The app is simple to use and you will have the choice between a 14 or 21 day loan. Just like paper books, ebooks and audiobooks have benefits too.
Magazines
Kids and teens can enjoy Ranger Rick Jr., Seventeen, Sports Illustrated Kids, or Teen Vogue through Flipster. Magazines provide short articles with the visual support of pictures that help with a child’s reading comprehension.
Movies
Gather the family for a movie night as you enjoy streaming movies for free via Hoopla. This service begins April 1, so let the countdown begin. Check out what your local library has to offer!
Just like the library, SpeechWorks offers online services by providing telepractice services, allowing your child to receive speech therapy services from the convenience of your home. Contact us for a complimentary 20 minute consultation to see if telepractice is a good fit for your child.
