Out of Network Insurance

Families often ask if SpeechWorks takes insurance. SpeechWorks is an out of network provider with all insurance companies. This means that we provide speech-language evaluations and therapy directly to you. All payments are due to SpeechWorks directly. An itemized receipt called a superbill is provided for you to provide to your insurance company in order to seek reimbursement. A superbill can also be provided to your FSA/HSA to seek reimbursement for services provided.
If you plan to submit bills to your insurance company, you should:
*Check your insurance policy to determine if speech and language therapy services are covered. Search your plan for keywords speech therapy and habilitative services.
*Confirm if a referral from your child’s physician is required.
*Determine if the insurance company requires a pre-authorization for therapy services.
*Understand that referrals and pre-authorizations do not guarantee that insurance will pay for services.
*Be familiar with your out-of-network deductible amount.
Insurance coverage of speech-language therapy services vary by policy. Some plans cover certain types of services, some plans limit the number of annual therapy visits, and some plans require a pre-authorization.
